Manual Lymphatic Drainage

Lymphatic Drainage Massage

Support Detoxification, Immunity, and Whole-Body Wellness

Your lymphatic system plays a critical role in keeping your body healthy, yet it is one of the slowest-moving systems in the body. Unlike the circulatory system, the lymphatic system does not have a pump—meaning it often needs gentle encouragement to function optimally.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is a unique technique, grounded in science. MLD can help those suffering with lymphedema as well as:

  • Reduce limb volume.
  • Improve lymphatic flow.
  • Decrease pain & stiffness.
  • Support post-operative recovery.
  • Enhance overall comfort and quality of life.

At Sparkle Health, lymphatic drainage massage is performed using a rhythmic, systematic, and gentle approach that helps move lymphatic fluid efficiently through the body’s natural filtration pathways.

Unlike traditional massage, which targets muscles and deeper tissue, MLD focuses on the skin and superficial lymphatic vessels. Trained therapists use slow, rhythmic, and precise hand movements to guide lymph fluid toward lymph nodes, where it can be filtered and drained. The technique is light and soothing, rather than deep or forceful, because excessive pressure can collapse delicate lymph vessels.

Because the lymphatic system is closely tied to immunity, improving lymph flow can have benefits that extend far beyond relaxation.

Not all Lymphatic Messages are the same.

Gina Toce is a Certified Lymphedema Therapist (CLT). This means, she has completed medical training in the lymphatic system and how to treat you safely and effectively using Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD). She is also trained in Complete Decongestive Therapy (CDT) – the gold standard for management of lymphedema. This is not the same type of treatment that most spas offer when they list lymphatic massage.

Most lymphatic clients that visit Sparkle Health do not have a diagnosis of lymphedema. Instead, they come to us with complaints that they “feel puffy all the time”, or “my feet are swollen”, or “my legs feel so heavy”.

They may have won a battle with breast cancer and are looking for ways to support their lymphatic system so it can do its job and keep the lymphatic fluid moving. They could be going through a doctor supported detox program or they may be recovering from a hip or knee replacement and their skin feels “tight”. They may have been in an accident recently and their arms “don’t hurt but just don’t feel right.” They could have seasonal or other chronic sinus allergies, or they may be getting over a particularly nasty cold/virus and feel that their immune system could use a little more support. Any of that sound familiar? If so, then MLD could be the answer you are looking for.

There are so many reasons to consider getting a lymphatic massage from a Certified Lymphedema Therapist vs someone without that training. Don’t settle for someone that does not have the proper medical training to treat how you are feeling. It is worth it. You are worth the investment in yourself. You will feel the difference instantly when you get off the table. Gina will explain different things about your lymphatic system during the treatment and may also suggest some simple things you can do at home, in between appointments, which can help keep your lymphatic system flowing as optimally as it can. The technique is very gentle and may feel like nothing is happening, until suddenly, you feel something different. And then when you stand up, you feel the difference. And going through your day, your legs and arms do not feel as “heavy” as they did before you came in. That is the magic of MLD.
