PEMF

What is PEMF?

“PEMF” is Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy.  PEMF is a magnetic field that acts on the electrically charged particles in our body.  The waveform, intensity and frequency of the treatment is low level, very specific and in alignment with what is normally found in our body and in nature.  Did you know that we are electrical beings?  Every cell in our body has an electrical charge and the function of our nervous system and cardiovascular system at the core is well…..electrical.  In fact, all living beings emit an electromagnetic field.

Diseased, damaged tissue as well as the aging process and life in general with a myriad of energy zapping insults can dim our cellular charge.  I liken this to recharging a battery that has lost its power.  PEMF in a way re-ignites that charge to help bring it to balance and in a way transfers that energy to our body.  PEMF increases the microcirculation of the body and helps our bodies in cellular repair processes.  PEMF helps with the natural detoxification processes in our tissue by improving the circulation in the tissue.  Research has shown that PEMF increases oxygenation and perfusion of tissues.

What are some of the conditions that may benefit from PEMF?

Of course everyone is different and what is a game changer for one person may not be for the next.  Typically the benefits are seen not just from a single treatment but with consistent use.  There are studies that support the use of PEMF for the following benefits:

The people that most benefit from PEMF are those that do not feel well enough to exercise as this is a good way to increase blood flow without exercising.  Based on the list of possible benefits above, nearly everyone can benefit.  Even athletes use this technology to help recover from training sessions.

PEMF Devices

There are many good PEMF devices on the market.

At Sparkle Health we utilize the BEMER (BioElectroMagnetic Energy Regulation) device which uses PEMF.  We chose this one specifically for it’s FDA approval as a medical device for muscle stimulation as well as research articles specific to this device.  Here is more information specific to the BEMER device:

How To Benefit From PEMF?

If you would like to see if PEMF can benefit you, the best thing to do is experience it.  We recommend trying to use it consistently for a period of time, we realize daily is not possible unless you have your own device but a few times per week to daily would be ideal.  We offer a series package for you to come in and receive PEMF treatments as part of your wellness plan.  We also are using it in combination with either massage therapy and sauna to maximize the benefit of these treatments.

What to expect during your treatment

You will be in a warm comfortable room and lay flat on a massage table. You will remain fully clothed minus shoes. The device is flat and is on the bed underneath you. As the therapy begins you will likely not feel anything and you may even fall asleep. Some patients have reported feeling slight vibration in hands and feet while others only feel warmth and relaxation.

Are there possible side effects?

PEMF is pretty well tolerated and side effects are unlikely.  It can not be used for people who are undergoing active chemotherapy and caution needs to be used for those with implantable electrical devices (such as a pacemaker).  Occasionally someone may experience increased fatigue initially and an increase in pain (if previously in pain) followed by gradual improvement.  Easing into PEMF treatment can help prevent any possible side effects.

What Are the Most Common Nutritional Deficiencies?

Are you getting all of the nutrients essential for good health?
If you aren’t, you’re not alone. The Standard American Diet makes it very difficult to get, and correctly absorb, all of the essential vitamins and minerals we need for our bodies to run optimally. While taking a multivitamin is a good first step, if you have certain deficiencies you may need additional supplements.

Big Benefits From Eating Fermented Foods

Fermented or cultured foods have been a traditional source of nourishment for people worldwide for what appears to be most of human history. Think sauerkraut, kimchi, kefir, idli, miso, preserved lemons, sour pickles – even chocolate is fermented. The process of fermenting foods has been used for centuries both as a way to preserve and store them for later consumption, but also as a method to make them more digestible and nutritious. Fermentation can help to acidify the intestinal tract, providing a less than ideal environment for pathogens and yeasts.
