We are grateful every day to spend this part of our lives helping others and for all of the new things we learn from our members, fellow providers, friends, and family.

We invite you to dive into our newsletter and pull out a few things that inspire you on your journey.

Success Story

“I had been trying to manage a number of challenging health issues that compounded together making life painful and unfulfilling. I was pushing through chronic pain every day and it got in the way of doing everything that I love and enjoy. I have seen a number of other providers who approached my treatment by trying to spot fix each individual issue but who never took the time to look at the bigger picture of my health.

After 3 years of searching, I was referred to Dr. Mercuro as a possible source of relief. I can’t express enough how Dr. Mercuro and her team have taken the time, care, and effort to treat me as a whole person. My treatment was multifaceted and involved regularly scheduled massages, medication adjustments, incorporating supplements, and PEMF (pulsed electromagnetic field) sessions.

Life has completely turned around after working with her and her team during the past year. My chronic pain, Type II diabetes, weight, and general well-being have all improved dramatically. I’ve lost 40 lbs, my insulin needs have dropped, I’m taking significantly less medication for pain, and most importantly ~ I’m reengaged in life. I would like to thank Dr. Mercuro, Gina, Kate, and Donna for their compassion, talent, and incredible care that have helped me reach this point.”

Andrea's Story

I am a registered nurse that’s cared for patients across the lifespan in various specialties over the years. I went into nursing because I love people. There’s something special about taking part in helping another person to feel better. What I’ve come to realize is our current healthcare system does not allow the time for a holistic approach. Conventional medicine often addresses symptoms but falls short in treating root causes. Providers are rushed, many people suffer from preventable lifestyle diseases, and I found myself frustrated that the process wasn’t necessarily holistic. Patients may receive symptom relief through medications but they were a long way from being well. I saw this in patients, family and friends. I knew that there had to be a better way to help people, to empower them to prevent disease, regain and sustain their health.

A turning point in my career came in 2017 after I attended a seminar on Lifestyle Medicine, a branch of medicine that uses evidence-based lifestyle therapeutic interventions to treat and reverse disease (Part of the foundation of Functional Medicine). The data presented was astounding and I left feeling inspired and motivated to learn more. I dove in and became certified in lifestyle medicine through ACLM in 2019. Eager to put this new knowledge into practice, I began researching health and wellness coaching certification. I’m on par with finishing the certification through Wellcoaches® by the end of December 2021 and my plan is to become Nationally board certified.

“Coaching is a vehicle for helping people to achieve a higher level of well-being and performance in life and work, particularly when change is hard.” ~ Wellcoaches®.

How many times have you visited a provider’s office, received recommendations on how to improve your health, and left feeling like you don’t know where or how to start? You’re unsure of where you can make sustainable changes or where your motivation is?

That’s where a health and wellness coach can help.

I will always honor you as the expert in your own health and life but provide you with any requested education, accountability, and partnership along the way.

I’ll provide compassionate, empathetic, non-judgmental partnership and guidance, at your pace, in your time. It’s your journey and I’d be honored to come along for the ride.

Wellness Tip

Feeling sore or tight in certain spots on your body? Try this. . .

The objective of trigger point therapy is to release or soften a muscle knot to reduce or eliminate pain and stiffness. This release happens by applying various levels of pressure to muscle knots, and then stretching the affected areas through a complete range of motion.

Simple Trigger Point Self-Massage 101

  1. Find the tight spots (this won’t take long).
  2. Use your fingers to press firmly into the trigger points.
  3. Repeat for 4-5 minutes, several times per day.

After you’ve seen results from your self-massage visit Gina Toce at Sparkle Health for those hard to reach areas feeling discomfort.
