Tapping
Some of the best tools to help with anxiety are very simple. I am sure you have heard or read about them before… things like, reduce caffeine consumption, reduce alcohol consumption, increase exercise, use measured breathing practices and meditation to help control your thoughts. Have you ever heard of EFT Tapping?
EFT stands for Emotional Freedom Techniques. EFT is a practical self-help method that involves using the fingers to gently tap on the body’s acupuncture points along the meridian lines of Chinese medicine. It is often referred to as ‘EFT Tapping’ or simply as ‘Tapping’. The therapeutic effects of this technique are recognized around the world. One can use EFT tapping for anxiety, weight loss issues, pain, stress and many other issues.1
Tapping is relatively new to the scene. Developed in the 1970’s, this technique was developed by Dr. George Goodheart, Dr. John Diamond and Dr. Roger Callahan. They discovered that verbally focusing on a problem or issue (emotional or physical) – while manually stimulating acupuncture points – could bring surprising relief in their patients – particularly with regard to fears, phobias and physical responses to stress. 1
It gained a broader audience when Gary Craig, a student of Dr Roger Callahan’s students, was able to synthesize it into a more simplified form – one involving fewer tapping points and far less complexity. A Stanford trained engineer and Master of NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming), Craig added key NLP concepts, and called it EFT or Emotional Freedom Techniques.
Sparkle Health offers tapping sessions included with all membership plans. Initial sessions are typically 15-20 minutes long. We will review the basic background of EFT Tapping and help you to customize a session for you. Follow up sessions are available as well, but this technique is most often used as self-care. Specifically it can be used while in a stressful situation to help reduce anxiety and stress.
Come in and give it a try, the positive effects are often instant and can be long lasting. Pair it with a session on the PEMF mat or Infrared Sauna for some great relaxing “me” time that we all so desperately need these days.
