Headaches? Jaw pain? Clenching? Does any of that sound like a day in your life?
As an extension of my Clinical Massage training, this weekend, I was certified to treat TMJ disorders.
An interesting thing about TMJ pain, most of us associate TMJ pain with pain in our jaw area. While that is true for some folks, most will have pain appear in different places in the body. Pain related to TMJ disorders can appear in the neck, the shoulders, as headaches and it could even appear as pain in your hips or pelvis. (Who knew?) The body is a remarkable structure and that song we learned as children (the hip bone is connected to the thigh bone…) is true, the body is connected in a very intricate, fascinating way. Injury or Trauma in one part of the body can show up as pain in a seemingly unexpected and unrelated place in your body.
With Clinical Massage, I use a blend of several techniques designed to identify the source of your pain, whatever pain you are feeling, whatever label it has or doesn’t have, and then help to decrease it. Every body is different – because of that, each session is different. Your body and the pain patterns that you are experiencing will guide me and where I work. These sessions may not feel like a “traditional massage”, but they are effective.
My overall goal is to increase your well being.
Let me help you out of pain.
